Beginning the Academic Essay

Since the emergence of the Malthusian theory there have been conflicting ideas about the size of populations in relation to human wellbeing. There are different opinions regarding the view that a large and rapidly growing population is desirable as a source of wealth of a country as while some believe that population growth is desirable up to a certain point, others believe any increase in population will have damaging effects on society and will ultimately result in human misery. Thus, there have been strong contrary views about the problem of overpopulation causing misery to societies. In short, it has been recognised that the problem of population growth and its size remains an important factor in the economic development of a country.
